Green Policy
Woodwick Mill’s objective is to provide excellent accommodation whilst minimising environmental impact. We aim to enhance our visitors’ experience by reducing carbon dioxide production, pollution, waste production and visual impact, and by protecting biodiversity. We have identified the following tasks in order to achieve this:
- Woodwick Mill shall measure its impact on the environment and set targets for on-going improvement.
- We shall comply with all relevant environmental legislation.
- Woodwick Mill shall promote outdoor pursuits in the local area such as cycling, archaeology, bird watching and hill walking and shall encourage the use of public transport.
- Our team mill shall continue to improve waste management and to raise awareness of this in our guests.
- We shall endeavour to continue to reduce carbon dioxide and greenhouse gas emissions in any way possible, building on our use of renewable technologies and using the best working practices.
- Woodwick Mill shall improve the use of eco-friendly products and services.
- Woodwick Mill shall make employees and contractors aware of the environment and advise how they can help protect it. We shall monitor progress and review environmental performance annually.
- Woodwick Mill generates its own hydro-electricity. We plan to operate an electric vehicle with a charger point that our guests can use for their electric vehicles.
- We provide Fair Trade products in our Welcome Packs, and environmentally-friendly cleaning products in the cupboards.
- We are members of Green Tourism who, every two years, audit us on our performance against a set of rigorous sustainable criteria.
We hope that you will enjoy your stay and sample the local area and all it offers. Any feedback that you might offer that could aid our sustainable objectives would be most welcome.
